Stop telemarketing calls with PhoneSpamFilter
Over the last few months I’ve been receiving a good number of solicitations to review products, services and websites. Some of them I get paid for, some offer me stuff to give away as prizes (Like the i2i Stream April won) and sometimes I review them because they deserve a bit more exposure. This site I’m getting paid to review, so I want to put that out there first. That said, this is an honest and open review and not influenced by money.
PhoneSpamFilter.com offers a solution to nagging telemarketers and build a database of who’s wasting your time and so you can quickly verify legit phone calls from scams by typing in their number. In their own words they offer a,
free service designed to assist the general public in determining which callers are annoying telemarketers. Our goal is to develop a complete database of all the phone solicitors out there, so you can stop receiving calls trying to sell you products and services.
I actually like this idea. The ability to put phone numbers out in the public that bother me, even if they don’t accept incoming calls, is nice. All this being said, I suggest if you do not wish to be contacted by telemarketers you sign up for the National Do Not Call Registry. Since cutting ties to any real land line nearly three years ago, I rarely recieve telemarketing calls on my cell phone, but I understand that some people need to keep a land-line for the purpose of security systems or for DSL.
The site is easy to navigate, offers the ability to search by area code so you can see if you have local telemarketers, a reverse look up so you can see who it is that is really calling you, and the homepage shows the most recent users complaints. Aside from a few out of the way ads, it’s a really clean and simple site that anyone can use. They also offer the service in several other countries, including the UK.
While telemarketing isn’t the booming business it was 15 years ago prior to cell phones invading our lives, it still is a way to get annoyed during your dinner or at 9am on a weekend when you are trying to sleep in. If you get annoying telemarketing calls, give PhoneSpamFilter.com a try.
