Two men were let out of jail after doing a publicity stunt for a TV show on the cable show Cartoon Network. They were trying to market the show in a new and different way, the citizens of Boston thought they were seeing bombs attached to buildings and bridges.

The guerrilla marketing method used was rather simple to make LED boards that show characters from the animated TV show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The two placed them on various buildings in and around Boston (and other cities) to promote the show. Outraged citizens quickly called police, as the icons appear to be giving the middle finger and have 4 D-cell batteries taped to the bottom (to power them).

Among all of this, an entire economy of this less then 24-hour-old story has started on eBay. Someone claims to have a real LED board from Boston, in only a few hours the bidding is already up over $5,000, some of which the seller says will go towards legal fees the two may encounter who were arrested, the rest will go to fund more public art. In addition, T-Shirts and other memorabilia are showing up every hour on the hour.

Update: The above auction for the sign seems to have been pulled, at this point I don’t know if it was by eBay or the seller. There is another one up for sale though, find it here.
