Randy, I don't think any of it overly emotional, the topics are all valid, I just gave you my thoughts on them.

Sorry, I guess I was acting emotional myself. Did I actually write that stuff?? Maybe I should give up Photography and become a writer!

Randy, I can understand your frustration. When I was an inspector for iStock, there was myself and 2 other people doing it. Now there is an army of 40 something, maybe more for all I know. Those I know who still do it are only doing about 100 a day; they do take a good amount of time to download. You are also right in that what one might pass, another may reject. It is not a perfect system, however they have vastly improved it over the years and been fairly consistent with the protocols for image inspection.

Reviewers are quick to tell you that they see a thousand or more images a day. Which tells me that they really don't give each image any real consideration at all. Their judgment is as arbitrary as the lunch they will eat that day. In fact, the same image that would be rejected today, would be just as easily accepted tomorrow depending on the whimsical mood of the reviewer. And, So, by their own admission, they aren't really judges at all!...They are nothing more than gate-keepers, trying to keep the numbers down and the riff raff out, frivolously pointing an egoic yes or no based upon the most ridiculous of criteria.....mood!

Laura,

I would suggest joining a photography community, like www.iPhotoForum.com, where you can get unbiased feedback from more than just me. It's a great way to learn.

I have read parts 1 through 5, and am certainly intrigued. I'm a stay at home mom with a very time consuming hobby in photography. You said ,you have 10 years experience doing your own and veiwing others, I'm wondering if I sent you just one pic if you would tell me if this is something I should pursue...and don't worry, I can take rejection!lol

Great series of articles. Really opened my eyes to the possibilities of making a few extra dollars with some of my photos. Enjoyed the read and looking forward to more.
