While I don’t agree with your distaste for Kidd Chris, and his show, I agree that the whole thing is a complete double standard.

He may not have had class, but the cat made me laugh in the morning by saying what he felt like saying and doing the same. Sure he harrassed other shows, but that’s what he did. He’s been doing it since before he showed up on the Philadelphian airwaves. He’s been doing it since he got his own show.

To someone like you, of course sophmoric humor won’t be funny. But to a lot of people both “sophisticated” and average found his show hilarious. The only reason He never won out in the ratings is because Preston and Steve (as well as the other four spots above him)had either a bigger auidience because of station format, or because they’ve had pleanty of time to build a relationship with thier listeners.

Remember that Preston and Steve already had a big following before they came to WMMR. Add in the WMMR morning listeners that were already there, and of course you’ll have the number one spot.

this show was the last good thing going in Philadelphia. He is not even close to being a racist at all. If anything, the day before he got fired he had a black guy on the show who he was praising and basically begging to be at his birthday celebration. Yea some racist. O did everyone forget his sidekick is a fat japanese guy? I guess its not racist if your making fun of a person you know or work with…. CBS made the dumbest move in the history of radio. 94.1 has been desperately trying to get back into the ratings game and with this move…… all hope for that is gone… If the show moved to satellite radio, i’d be the first to get a new subscription. He was real with all his guests. When celebs called in, they had real discussions about real life situations, not plugging the stupid bullshit projects they work on.

You obviously never gave the show more than 5 minutes of your time. Your article sucks

Ah, nice article. You really don’t have a sense of humor at all…or at least consider yourself “better” than those who enjoy low-brow comedy.

It was a song, Chris said after the song was over that he did not endorse songs like that, yet did play it again. CBS is scared. Chris broke no FCC rules. Chris also was hired to do a show like that, yet he wasn’t fired over the numerous songs that called people “faggot,” “wop,” “heeb,” “jew,” etc. Apparently, there is no need for an internal investigation when a song called “Chris got fondled by a midget” that addresses pedophilia is played many times on the air, yet that subject matter is highly offensive to many.

I don’t know if all of the facts of the issue have been released to the public, but it is odd that CBS would take that stand and fire someone over 2 months after the facts of the case. Usually, the police arrest someone immediately when a serious crime is commmitted, and not wait until an investigation is complete. CBS made a political move and the lawyers are afraid of SOMETHING, but won’t say what it is.
