A week ago today I started to feel a little sick while at work, a head cold.  Not wanting to get sick, I mostly ignored it and continued on with my day, drinking water and trying to forget about it.  That night I passed out almost as soon as I got home, I was going to be sick.  Saturday morning I had a photoshoot scheduled that had been postponed from the weekend prior due to snow and crappy weather, so I sure as hell wasn’t pushing it off another week.  Body aches were coming on and no real appetite, but it was so cold during the shoot that I kind of forgot about being sick.  By Sunday I knew it was going to get worse, and I slept most of the day away in a Nyquil coma, only waking long enough to go to an early evening meeting I couldn’t miss.

Tuesday was just as bad and I finally called my Mom and asked her to bring reinforcements for Nyquil as I needed to get back to work.  She showed up with a huge bottle of the sleepy-time-night-night-cherry-flavored-goodness for me and a rotisserie chicken, such a good Mom right?  Outside of a bowl an oatmeal, I hadn’t eaten much else since Friday, and I was finally starting to get hungry.

After work Wednesday I finished off the rest of the rotisserie chicken and figured it was time to make stock from the carcass and then chicken noodle soup.  Strangly, this is the first time I’ve done such a thing, but the end result had a mix of veggies in it and the taste was great!  Then it dawned on me, I’m still sick, I need to get my head clear, where are you Sriracha?

Huey Fong Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce is wonderful stuff, I was introduced to it a few years ago, a friend told me, “Any hot sauce that has a chicken on it is bound to be good!” Sure enough, it is!  I add this stuff to a lot of different foods but up until now, never thought to add it to chicken noodle soup.  It helped clear my head and I think enhanced the flavors in the soup and broth, bringing them to a whole new level.  If you’ve never tired this stuff, go get a bottle, it’s that good.  There is even a Facebook Fan Page for it!
