Another tip is to sell premiums, for example, shipping insurance, express shipping etc.

There is alot to be made in selling on EBAY if you identify with the customer base and the market trends. It can be a very lucrative venture, I speak from experience.

Monkeyjack, my experiance is that the buy it now items work best when the target audience of the item are less tech savvy. By this I mean, some people are just less apt to the actual bidding of items and much prefer to just have it now. Giving this option can often end auctions faster and usually get money in your pocket a few days sooner.

I list all of my auctions at $.01. I always include a gallery image, and I usually try to end my auctions in the evening, usually Sunday or Monday.

The 1 penny thing usually gets the auctions kickin' a little faster and I've never really been screwed.

Does the inclusion of a Buy It Now really attract that much more attention? I've never used them much, and never really felt they were a benefit. I never had anything to base it on.

Devon, Thank you. The disclaimer regarding feedback has been my way, in the past, of knowing that yes indeed the item arrived. Sadly, I've been burned by buyers in the past who I have left positive feedback for right after receiving payment only to have threaten to leave negative feedback after the item has already arrived, even thought nothing is wrong with it.

eBay feedback is pretty powerful, no one should abuse it, some do.

I left out of the article the need to include a "please leave positive feedback for me" note that I include in the actual packages, which also states, "please contact me ASAP if there is a problem so we can resolve it" disclaimer.

Excellent article. I could have written most of it myself, all except one part. The disclaimer: 'Please leave positive feedback for me when the item arrives, I will do the same for after you have left feedback for me.' I feel threatened when I read that...like I have to give you good feedback in order to get any from you, even tho I paid you (I did my part) but the item arrives damaged due to skimpy packaging(you did not do your part). If I paid you, I deserve good feedback. If you paid me, you deserve good feedback - no matter what happens after that. I put out extra effort in wrapping, padding, waterproofing, etc. to insure that the item gets to the buyer in perfect condition. I know the post office can be rough and accidents happen, but in truth, I have found USPS to be highly reliable and dependable. Thank you for writing the article. It will help many of us to do better (I hope). Gentle peace to all, dv.
