It’s the time of year again when little girls try to earn a badge and raise money to support their local Girl Scout troop by selling cookies. Girl Scout cookies are almost like an addiction for some as they anxiously await their arrival. For me, they are an annoyance. At work nearly a half dozen co-workers bring in the order forms for their daughters, tables are setup outside local stores and stands are erected at farmers markets to hawk the over-priced cookies that we fat Americans have grown to love. I’m tired of telling friend that I don’t really need another box of $6 cookies and although I’d love to see their darling little daughter go to some super special summer camp, I won’t buy 15 more boxes so it can happen. Why isn’t she here to sell them to me, why are you, the parent, hawking these delectable yum-yums?

Now I don’t have to worry about being harassed at work, friend’s houses or while walking into a store to buy these overpriced goodies, Girl Scouts have gone to the web! Utilizing the social networking site MySpace to further reach out and sell cookies is the last straw.

The Girl Scouts of America, that pristine organization of innocence and good values, at the end of January, stepped foot into the seedy world of MySpace with a site promoting this year’s cookie drive.

Ugh!
