Dr. Pepper gives out free soda starting Sunday
Dr. Pepper made a promise to give everyone in America a free can of soda if Guns N’ Roses put out their new album, Chinese Democracy, sometime in 2008. They apparently never talked to GnR about it, but are sticking to their guns and giving everyone in America, who has computer access and a printer, a coupon to redeem for a free 20oz soda. The album which has long been anticipated is scheduled to be released November 23rd, personally, I don’t care. Moreover, neither should you.
Former MTV VJ and now a for real newscaster Alison Stewart says in this Washington Post article,
“Chinese Democracy” isn’t a masterpiece — it’s more curious than actually great
At one point, I enjoyed some of their music, I was too young when they were in their full blown hair-metal days and by the time their follow up album came I was into hard rock and heavy metal that was beyond what they were doing, but I still appreciate what they accomplished. The band broke up, most moved on, Axl tried to put it back together and since lost even more band members. Again, who cares? Not I, not the thousands of fans who snorted coke and drank beers 20 years ago in the parking lot of some stadium waiting to get in and catch a glimpse of them.
I still have a sinking suspesion that the album won’t drop on time, or even this year. Why? Well Amazon isn’t even taking pre-orders on it yet!
