Breaking: Jerry Falwell dies at age 73
Earlier this morning, TV evangelist Jerry Falwell passed away at the age of 73. He was most well known for being a conservative republican and leader to millions who subscribed to his style of preaching.
He will also be remembered for the landmark U.S. Supreme court verdict in 1988, Hustler Magazine, Inc. et al. v. Jerry Falwell, 485 U.S. 46, where the ruling held that public figures cannot evade First Amendment protections by attempting to recover damages based on emotional distress suffered from parodies. This was shown to some length in the 1996 movie, The People v. Larry Flynt.
